I put these under the first layer of the folded fleece blanket I use in my outdoor cat bed to keep them warm. Always use the lid provided to avoid burning the kitten. Heat as directed. You can smell like burnt plastic, but the smell will dissipate over time. I would recommend to all pet owners, not just cats. I've been using them for about 8 years and love them! For some reason pet shops in the US have stopped selling them as they are made in the UK.

There are currently 9 pieces available. We have 4 shelters for feral and stray kittens. I heat up a pot every morning and evening to place the kittens in the outdoor shelter to keep them warm during those cold Northeast days and nights. If the cat is in the shelter and on one of the hot stones, the stone stays warm for up to 10-12 hours. The only suggestion I have is to put the heated stone in a ziplock bag if using straw in shelters. This will prevent the straw from sticking to the stone.

These things are cool! It seems that as kittens get older, it becomes more difficult for them to keep warm when it gets cold. Of course, turning the heating up as high as you like turns the place into a steam room for the residents. I'm so happy for Snugglesafes! I have one for each kitten. They keep warm for over 10 hours, and I don't even heat them up to the maximum time for our microwave power (they're hot enough at 80% of the recommended time). My cats and I love them! I leave my heater at around 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter to save money and I wanted it in case the cats wanted to curl up on something warm.
