This device is unstable

We bought this BluRay/DVD player in February 2015 and brought it to Germany. It is connected to a 32-inch LG LED TV with an HDMI cable and the DVD and BluRay disc pictures are very good and clear. US, UK, and Germany discs play correctly. Problems that shouldn't be encountered in a Sony player at this price point. This player often has trouble reading BluRay discs and freezes. We keep our drives pristine so this is not a drive issue. freezes, it doesn't respond to any functions, be it eject…

Plays all manufacturer's Blu-ray discs, sometimes freezes on power up

I bought this player because I had two Samsung Blu-ray players, both of which sometimes stopped playing Blu-ray discs fail in the 20th century. Sometimes Sony player also freezes while playing DVD and returns to main…

So, to help everyone in the future, do the following: Turn off the player completely. To play Region A Blu-ray, press the small red button on the remote control while the player is off. Now turn on the player, open the tray and insert a disc. This disc will now play. To play a Region B disc…

5 Mbps Recommended for broadband 3

BDP-S5500 has a 3.8 Mbps connection on the network, tested at 72 Mbps for 5 minutes. Rather than just complaining, I also went to the Sony website to try and fix the issue. After updating the software (it was already up to date) I came up with the following simple procedure to test the network in my house. If you are using multiple devices, follow these steps: 1. Connect the device using the same Ethernet or Wi-Fi cable.2. Use fast.com to record your connection speed. Results: Device…
