Had a DVD VCR combo for a while

I have had this unit since 2005 and it works fine. It has been used daily for a long time. My only complaint is that it's slow to start and run.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • So-so

Sony Combo

This is the first Sony product I have ever owned and it was a real disappointment. His DVD player makes a high-pitched whirring noise when playing and often stops at chapter changes. Even if the DVD has the slightest scratch or smudge, it will skip, pause, or just not play. On the other hand, the VCR works great. Another big problem: if the power goes out for half a second, you have to reset the time, which is annoying. I'm a Sony fan, but this crap.

Pros
  • Programming for 8 VCR Plus+ Events for 1 Month with Ad Skip and Quickset
Cons
  • Out of Style

SONY out of order

Like many others I buy SONY, no need for reviews, I assumed I was buying a quality product. What amazed me was that I saw on several review sites that the average life cycle is nine months! Well I bought mine on 7/17/2005 and haven't worked since 1/17/2006; Exactly 6 months. The warranty is for 90 days, after that I have to pay for both shipping and return and labor, the warranty only covers parts. My problem? VHS works; DVD sound comes and goes. The price for what SONY is charging me is almost

Pros
  • DVD bookmarks, image scaling and multi-angle playback; 16.93 x 3.35 x 11.29 inches (W x H x D)
Cons
  • No performance
