This device works well to reduce the shock of my ground source heat pump's water shut-off valve. I calculated it using Soux Chief's equations provided on their website. The first one I bought lasted 2 years and then stopped working. I removed it and bought another new one and the new one works fine. I tried contacting Soux Chief online about the crash but they never responded to my message so I don't expect them to help if you run into problems. I gave it 4 stars because I was disappointed with

After completing the repair, I installed this shock absorber to permanently solve the shock problem. I installed it…

  • ANSI/Asset 1010-2004 certified by the American Plumbing Society
Cons
  • Exorbitant price

I purchased this unit to reduce water hammer in my sprinkler system. I just installed it so it's too early to tell how effective it will be, although the shock seems to have worn off a bit once installed. Again, time will tell. The more serious issue is that the threads on the device (hydra rester with 3/4 inch threads) were absolute crap and it took me about an hour to thread them (good file) enough for me to put the device in my system could screw. What I can see is that the fitting used to…

Pros
  • Allows 2×4 wall cavity installation
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
