Type of review

I first bought it in April 2016! It is now March 2020, 4 years later. 95% of all these reviews are written by people who buy something and leave a 5-star review a day after receiving it. These are useless reviews! The installation went well, it's not rocket science, you just need to conveniently connect a few wires to the panel when the power is off. My surge protector works because the lightning struck a tree 2 houses away from me and my neighbor lost his tv, macbook and something smaller and…

Easy installation for accessories and consumables

Some time ago, lightning struck near a lamppost in the courtyard, and the lamp and photocell on the pole evaporated. I was lucky that the surge stopped at the GFI output feeding the post as it fried open circuit. Given the cost of modern electronics and high homeowners insurance deductibles, it's a cheap sidestep to protecting gear. Installation at the bottom of the service entrance through a standard cutout was quick and easy. Connect the two black wires to each half of the 240v switch, the…

About the only gamble I do anymore. I go Friday or Saturday night. This time I read the description of the country where this product was made in my AMAZON DESCRIPTION OF WHERE THIS PRODUCT IS MADE. It's on the list. MADE IN THE USA. So I bought two. Costs $200 and $12 knowing the product is much better than cheap Chinese imports. By purchasing other brands of these home surge protectors. failed. all cost about $100 each. ALL of them were made in CHINA or some other dubious country. I searched…

External installation was easy (yes)

Installing this unit was as easy as can be but I didn't see where it needed to be installed on a dedicated 20A bipolar switch I could hook it up to an existing light switch, but that is not the case. So please keep this in mind before you start as you may need an additional trip to your local hardware store (about 130 miles round trip). to me). The only "problem" I had with installing it was that the lightbulbs would not light up once turned on. I checked and checked several times. I had power…

Company does not honor their customer warranty on electronics

Product packaging offers a $75,000 5-year warranty on the product and associated equipment. I purchased this product and an electrician installed it for home surge protection. The HVAC fan motor stopped working and the HVAC technician wrote that it was due to an electrical surge (common in Florida). The repair cost was $320. The printed limited warranty includes five steps to submitting a claim. After calling Schneider they gave a completely different process including having an electrician…

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
Cons
  • Available in black only

Decent product - warranty claims and customer service stink!

The product seems decent enough but wait until you have to file a warranty claim with the company if an incident does occur. The manufacturer's warranty claims to cover $75,000 in damage or your homeowners insurance deductible if the device fails to protect your home and all connected devices (within 5 years of purchase). Pretty amazing value on the surface. However, the commitment and communication with Schneider customer service to fulfill this product warranty is ridiculously terrible. It…

  • No power

Easy to install protection for the whole house. MADE IN USA

HEPD80 is great for protecting the main switchboard. Overvoltage protection also helps to avoid overvoltages from the emergency generator. Most new ovens, washers, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves and kettles. Now there are electronic boards that are not protected from surges. We usually protect our televisions, DVD players, computers and other electronics that cost less than our most important household appliances. The HEPD80 is fairly easy to install (if you have electrical experience).

Pros
  • 5 year product warranty and 50,000 stays downline
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options. The

Made in Mexico (not USA) - Home surge protector on main panel

Formerly "Made in USA" but no longer. The device I received and transcribed with a manufacture date of 1602 (2nd week of the year 2016) is marked "Made in Mexico". I deduct points for that. . . With a very high 80kA rating, the HEPD80 is 2 to 3 times better than plug-in circuit breakers, which are easier to install (but it is recommended to place these protectors close to the ground bus). For me, my central air conditioner occupied the first 3 switch positions (wire #10 and #12) which could not
