Great sharpener!

This sharpener arrived today and I have already sharpened all the pencils I needed. Great points and it makes the wood incredibly smooth. I'll admit that this sharpener is a bit pricey, but I'm very picky and I know from experience that Staedtler is a brand I can trust.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • No mold required

Good but not the easiest to use

Love it but it's not easy to use - it's more complicated and clunky than a regular pencil sharpener. The depth feature is really good but can be confusing because it's not clear how it works. EDIT: I have 2 of these, I am planning to buy a third and while they are the best fully mechanical sharpeners I can tell they are not the easiest of designs.

Perfect for my Prismacolor pencils

This manual sharpener is perfect for my Prismacolor pencils. This takes the guesswork out of sharpening. When the pencil sharpens, the handle spins and you know you're done. Don't worry about keeping the pencil straight so it doesn't break. The pencil does not shave but grinds, which is better for a pencil. It can be set to different levels of sharpness from super sharp to medium sharp. absolutely love it.

My Favorite Handmade Sharpener

I've used many different types of sharpeners (electric, rotary, manual) over the years and this is by far my favorite. It can sharpen EVERYTHING right down to the dagger, including Charcoal, Conte, and Prismacolors (all very prone to breakage). It's very rare for a point to break in a sharpener and when it does, it's very easy to fix! All you have to do is turn the back, pull out the knife mechanism and use a paper clip to remove the jam.

Very disappointing! Not recommended :(

I had trouble finding a mechanical pastel pencil sharpener so I was glad to see this one on YouTube. I bought it and it broke the third time I used it They replaced it with a new one and it was fine for a couple of weeks and then I went away and didn't use it for a while. Now after using it less than a dozen times it doesn't sharpen to the point is very disappointing and I see I only have 2 weeks left to get Revain back I am really surprised that a pencil sharpener at this price works so poorly

Perhaps the best universal sharpener Revain.

I've spent too much time buying a pencil sharpener; In the end, that's what I'm happy with. It produces a nice medium length point (on the right in the photos) with a slight concavity that exposes a lot of lead without producing a brittle point that is guaranteed to break like a long sharpener would. All mechanical parts are metal, to ensure durability, and it's easy to disassemble without tools once you need it, you can even replace the cutter without tools (assuming spare parts are…

Pros
  • Pencil sharpener

  • Something else

Can be sharpened easily. I bought this device mainly because of the adjustable tip and the fact that it can be mounted on a table without drilling any holes. First I tried to use it wrong. I didn't know it had an auto feed and accidentally discovered it while fiddling with it. Second, I misunderstood the instruction to rotate counter-clockwise for thinner dots and clockwise for thicker dots. I tried turning the whole knob counterclockwise, not the adjustment pin. Joy came as I unscrewed the…

The best all round sharpener on the market.

I use Prismacolor pencils for my work on a daily basis and I'm tired that there doesn't seem to be a quality rotary sharpener that sharpens pencils accurately for fine detail. I've experimented with 4 different brands over the past few months.... The first (Derwent SuperPoint) gave the pencil a great point, but the gripping jaws had "shark teeth" which made the outside of the pencil look like one Beaver. gnaws at it. The sharpener also had a completely useless clip that moved in different…
