Not your father's Stanley tape measure.

Used Stanley 25ft tapes since 1975. I have a lot of old Powerlock tapes. The blade on this band is by far the weakest I've seen on a Stanley band. The blade on my vintage 8' powerlock from the 90's is better than this. Some economical 25 foot Stanley tapes I sold in 2004 (bought 3 of these for $4.99 each in a large box) have much more powerful blades than this one. I bought this as a replacement for a 25ft Fat Max because the Fat Max blade was beginning to break at the edge, allowing it to cut…

I love these good for linear measurements

I hope Stanley never stops making them! I use them professionally every day and prefer the shape and smaller size for a 25 foot tool with a 1 inch blade. They also work well and last a long time if you take good care of them. That doesn't mean they need to be petted. Of course not mine. Mine often fall to the ground too, sometimes from a pretty decent height, and they continue to work well. I think for people who don't really know how to read the tape (?). It's also an American roulette. I…

normal role. Not what they used to be.

I love the design of this tape measure! I bought this to replace another one I've had for years and it still works! I've been in the construction industry for 30 years and use a tape measure every day. All the big retailers started selling big, bulky, heavy tapes with huge tips. What I hate about the real world of building. My current Stanley PowerLock tape measure is lasting so long, the seal on the case has worn off, but the tape itself still works. I decided to remove it because it gets slow

They've been used on the best tapes out there.

These are by far the best tape measures as a professional carpenter, I use them every day, they last a long time. Sized "just right" to be comfortable in my hand, I had a new problem and I called Stanley it was "no problem" they sent me another of the same, no problem actually, I recommend This tape for all work, of course it doesn't "stick out" as they say, but I never thought it would be a problem. Things I had to say about tapes. I bought 3 of these, 2 of which are separated by 1/4" strips…

Pros
  • Tape measure
Cons
  • No power

As a carpenter, I prefer this tape measure: It feels good in the hand, isn't too bulky or complicated, but still makes hundreds of measurements a week on the construction site. However, there are two problems with the new design: 1) They recently added 1/32" markings for the first foot of the tape. This makes reading unnecessarily chaotic and confusing. This is not a caliper or an architect's scale. This is a tape measure designed to work quickly and smoothly. Now I have to hold the tape…
