I didn't have to fiddle with setup like I've had with other adapters in the past. I have been buying Startech equipment for 5 years now and have never had any problems with any of their products. The main reason I got this was to get 4k at 60, but this adapter didn't give me that output. To be clear I'm pretty sure both my graphics card and monitor will handle it as the mini display port to display the cable on the same computer + monitor gives me 4k@60 and another laptop on same monitor me 4k @ 60 delivers HDMI.

Works as expected and well finished. Got this trying to stream 4k 60Hz video from a Mini DisplayPort output to an HDMI input on a TV. It couldn't play 60Hz, but that's probably due to the EDID signal coming from the TV, so it's not really an adapter fault. I have a monitor that can transmit 60hz 4k over HDMI but haven't tested this adapter with it yet.

I have a 34 inch 3440 x 1440 widescreen display and a Surface Pro 6 (and dock). All other MiniDisplayPort adapters limited my resolution to 1080p. Tip for Surface Pro users: I had to take extra steps to get the correct resolution. First I had to connect directly to my surface and then go to the dock. I also had to return my graphics card adapter. I suspect that last part is because I used to use a DisplayPort adapter.
