I first bought a Gearhead USB to serial converter from my local computer store to use with my new Dell Inspiron 3000 computer running Windows 8.1. Big mistake! Should have checked the reviews on Revain first. Gearhead came with a driver CD and the box said it was compatible with Windows 8. Not correct. After upgrading macOS to Big Sur, my TripLite USB-to-Serial keyspan stopped working. The Big Sur requires signed drivers, while the Prolific UART chip in Keyspan does not. StarTech uses an FTDI chip and works right out of the box. No need to install any driver, just add a USB to USB-C adapter to plug it in and you're good to go.
