You need that!

So we all went out and bought a lamp and installed it only to find out after a while that it has this weird bulb. Well, here's a look at what you need and guess what. It's easy to install. Fits perfectly and the light is great.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Exchange Availability

Icy blue and white light! 6500K

My fault for not paying attention to the color when ordering. There's warm white, soft white, cool white, daylight, and then there's this incandescent bulb. 6500K, so much blue that my orange lampshade made the light look green. If that's what you want, this is a good pear.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • boring packaging

Lighting Flickers - not as bright

Perfect fit and size, just what I needed, but the light doesn't come on immediately - it flickers before it comes on. My old one did this so I decided to replace it. Also, it's not as bright as I would have expected from an LED. Decide if it's worth returning.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Nothing

Great replacement for a 30 year old lamp

My mother has an old magnifying lamp that goes with these round fluorescent tubes. This installs with minimal effort (it was a bit awkward to put on, but that's the nature of the lamp itself) and it glows with no flickering or buzzing. Bright daylight/cool white is just what she needs to knit. I hope this lamp will last as long as its predecessor, or the lamp will fail sooner. But so far so good.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Speed

Good light, could be better

I loved it at first, but after I received it it was smaller than advertised. Also, the pen section was very loose compared to the lightbulb I replaced. I thought it was broken. I am satisfied with how bright the light is. Very bright, great color temperature. Not a fan of warm light.

Pros
  • 1050 LUMEN - Bright light output of 1050 lumens with only 22 watts of power consumption. Annual energy cost is $2.65 based on 3 hours per day at $0.11 per kWh.
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Invulnerable? Just maybe or great packaging

So that's a lightbulb. It connects and turns on and off like it should. It has a decent white brightness, so I'm sure it will do for my little craft magnifier. The thing is, though, that it came packaged in a thin box and shipped in a larger box, along with a pair of sturdy steel gate hardware just rattling there in a plastic bag. We didn't expect this lightbulb to be intact or working at all because of that. But it happened! And it's worth a review. The bulb packaging should have been 5 starsโ€ฆ

Gives good light but installation can be tricky.

I needed to replace the bulb in my spring arm magnifying lamp. What a chore, but I'll give you a few tips so you don't repeat my mistakes. It took me 20 minutes to figure out where the first screw fell, using black light to mark the spot. Turn off the lamp first! Then tilt the lamp so the bulb is pointing 180 degrees up. Slowly loosen the small screws of the front panel and grab it before it falls off. After all the screws have been loosened, it is necessary to remove the clips holding the lamp

Pros
  • 8" SIZE - The standard FC8T9 bulb is 8" in diameter and has a 4-pin (G10q) base.
Cons
  • High Price
