Description of SunSaver Charge Controller 12V 10A

SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY: Designed for use in smaller systems. Max solar/load current: up to 20A (depending on model; see model comparison chart). Low voltage disconnect included (L models). Constant voltage PWM regulation; 4-stage charging. UNIQUE FEATURES: Ideal for use in cloud-connected, networked systems through communications protocols—“speaks” Modbus, and SNMP (with optional EMC-1). Tropicalized and hardened for field use with epoxy encapsulation, marine rated terminals. Includes wire terminal cover. RATED FOR USE IN HAZARDOUS LOCATIONS: meets UL/CSA requirements for Class 1, Division 2, Groups A-D for oil & gas and other critical environment applications. T5 temperature rating for up to 1000C/2120 F (boiling water). EXTENSIVE PROTECTION AND DIAGNOSTICS BUILT-IN: Built-in extensive electronic protection against surge, short-circuit, over-current, reverse polarity conditions. Advanced self-diagnostics warns against installation or user errors. Factory pre-sets mean no required installation settings. LOWEST HARDWARE FAILURE RATE IN THE INDUSTRY, BACKED BY A FIVE-YEAR WARRANTY: Most Morningstar products ever built are still in use, some for over 25 years, thanks to smarter digital design, superior internal engineering, and over-spec components. Advanced thermal engineering eliminates cooling fans which can fail, suck in dirt, shorten component life and waste precious energy. The high-impact, durable polycarbonate exterior case illustrates industrial-strength build quality.

Satisfied but had to get mppt

Quite small but heavy. Will be for work. Check out Victron's MPPT charge controllers and compare prices. If I had to do it again, I would take the Victron.

Don't waste money.

These controllers are no better than cheap controllers sold at Harbor Freight. I thought I had a bad battery so I replaced it only to find out I wasted a hundred bucks. Now I'm going to Harbor Freight. .

Great support and on time too.

My batteries stopped charging after 1 year. I thought it was a SunSaver controller and contacted the manufacturer. They responded almost immediately and suggested a few things to try. By following their advice and taking some measurements, I was able to determine that my RV's bad battery was the problem. The device will now operate normally and charge the batteries. Morning Star's support was excellent. Their response time was also excellent, you couldn't ask for better support. Very happy with

New headlights are great!

Had to replace an old SunSaver 6 12V so we bought this SunSaver 10 12V for our 85w RV solar panel system. For example the new three battery indicators that show the system status. The old SunSaver 6 only had a green charge indicator. The charge controller is well designed and easy to install. The instructions are well written. UPDATE: We just got back from a 2 week trip in our van (to get into the total eclipse!). The device works flawlessly and keeps us up to date on the charging status of the

Great so far. best in power controllers

Installs and works great. I am very impressed with the build quality. Unlike others in its class, it's made of solid metal rather than plastic. Everything speaks for quality, from the packaging to the bitmap graphics on the front of the controller. It's also small and compact. The instruction manual is one of the best I've seen and looks like it was written by someone who speaks English as a first language. (I can't speak to the other manuals that come in several different languages). I use it…

Good controller with small annoyances

This controller works well. When I type this in the morning I get 13.53 volts on the SOLAR terminals and 13.40 volts on the BATTERY terminals. It's a hair under 1% voltage drop in the controller - not bad. I've never noticed that it feels warm, but just in case I put a metal heat shield between it and the wall. The indicator lights are annoying at night. I made a cover for it which works fine (just a piece of cardboard wrapped in black gorilla tape and drilled a few holes for the controller…

Good workmanship, high quality product.

I have a garden outside the home that is too far away for electricity. I needed an electric fence to keep the critters out and a water pump. I have some solar panels that a friend gave me, so I decided to build my own little solar power station. I ordered one of those cheap Chinese made charge controllers to save a few bucks. Well that was a mistake. This thing was DOA and looked like a piece of junk. The instructions were in Chinglish. I decided I needed a better controller so I did some…
