Short Life for Networking Products

I bought this a little over a year ago and it's already broken. I bought Cisco because the name supposedly conveys quality. A few weeks ago I noticed that I was having serious network slowdowns between one computer and another. Basically, connecting to a NAS would slow things down A LOT. I read a bit about NAS and most said to check the switch. So I replaced it with a smaller one I had laying around and now all the problems are gone. So that switch failed after about a year. I will not buy…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

An indispensable thing for giga fiber internet.

Cisco always delivers! I bought this to replace my Dlink 16 port gigabit switch, I recently upgraded my home internet to fiber and got 1GB up/down services, Dlink is not bad but it is not stable to provide gigabit speed when hot it drops to 80+ Mbps , then you need to restart the switch, it works few days then it dropped to 80+ Mbps again. This one works right after Out of the box and delivering top performance throughout as I write this review. still stable like the first day i installed it…

Auto Negotiate Fail

The switch is great! My only complaint is that it tries to auto-negotiate to 100MB/s instead of giving me the full 1Gb/s on the port I'm connected to. How do I know? Well I have 1GB download speed at home and the port doesn't allow me to exceed 100MB/s. I had to force my PC's network card to 1GB instead of auto-negotiating and that fixed my problem. I wish there was an easy way to get into that switch to get rid of those stupid port auto-negotiation.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember

Didn't know it was an old item

Bought for $75 not knowing it was an old discontinued item. It lacks some more modern features, but it suits our needs - we use it to power a POE camera and connect 6 other devices in a remote rental home. Obviously a managed switch would be better as it would allow us to switch specific ports or diagnose some issues remotely, but we have another device that can turn off the entire switch/modem/router remotely. This switch is well built and has been running for six months with no problems, it…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Concise instructions

If applicable, NO other. rescue function! Cisco Exceeds Expectations!

Revain buyers, if you need an unmanaged switch, spend money on this switch. This switch has loop detection and is REQUIRED. That's why. We've had terrible internet with Xinity for quite some time. Numerous visits from technicians, phone calls, endless trouble. Our previous switch was fine, but to rule it out I bought this switch not even knowing it had loop detection. or what it was. In any case, as soon as I plugged it in and made all connections, the port containing the Xfinity Gateway/Router

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
