Type of review

I like to watercolor now and then but often it's just for relaxing than something frame-worthy but wanted paper that wouldn't buckle or wrinkle when I do paint. This set of 2 count, (33 pages each pad) works just fine for that purpose. I like the larger size because I can cut it down to a smaller size, and get more use out of the paper. The paper has a nice texture to it, nothing over the top and is sturdy enough not to bow up or curl when painting. It is sensitive to repeated strokes, and will…

Pros
  • The glue-bound design allows sheets to easily tear out of the pad without leaving any residue or tearing the paper
Cons
  • The paper may not be as suitable for color mixing as other watercolor paper options

Recommended for my opinion

Great quality watercolor pads. These are perfect for traveling and quick sketches or paintings. The paper is thick and perfect for watercolors. There is a small band to keep them shut when not in use. I love painting, especially with watercolors, but don’t often like to work on big projects, so this size is perfect for me and is exactly what I was looking for.

Pros
  • 7 inches Diameter
Cons
  • The paper may not be suitable for use with certain brushes

Student grade practice art notebook

Disappointed. This is a typical art notebook with double wide sheets that are folded, stitched together in sections then glued at the spine and the cover to hold the sheets to the cover. The issue is with the sheets!. One side is slightly textured. The other side is smooth pressed like a drawing sketchbook. The smooth sides cannot take on water! Even the lightest watercolor wash will quickly lift the fibers! Not a problem if this is used for multilayered collages and mixed media artwork where…

Pros
  • Its acid-free nature ensures that the paper will not yellow or degrade over time, making it ideal for archival projects
Cons
  • The paper may not be ideal for use with certain techniques such as dry brushing

The best "cheap " watercolor sketchbook I have used.

I have enjoyed the sketchbook significantly more than I thought I would. I'm very finicky about my watercolor sketchbooks. In the past when I have bought watercolor sketchbooks in this price range I have been disappointed and don't end up using them. But I have really enjoyed this sketchbook though. I have used it with both guache and watercolor and I like the way the paint interacts with the paper. The paper also holds up to wet washes very well. Particularly with my watercolor I tend to do a…

Pros
  • Watercolor paint dries quickly on this paper, meaning artists can create multiple pieces in a short amount of time
Cons
  • The paper may not be as fade resistant as other watercolor paper options

not what I expected at 140 lb

I get cheap watercolor paper for kids' art projects/lessons. This one was the worst I've ever purchased. Feels very soft, pills easily, and wrinkles quickly with water. Not worth buying again.

Pros
  • Its glue-bound design keeps the paper firmly in place, minimizing the chance of any unwanted movement
Cons
  • The paper may not be compatible with certain painting styles

Nice big sheets and great quality.

This pad is a good quality and has a smooth and textured side. This is great for many media forms. I mostly use this for watercolors, but pencil, acrylic paint markers, and colored pencils work well too. My grandson likes to watercolor. He likes to draw birds and cats. He likes to make greeting cards. I cut the paper in fourths and use a clip board so it is portable and won't shift.

Pros
  • The compact size of the pad makes it easy to take on the go, making it ideal for artists who like to travel
Cons
  • The paper may not be suitable for use with certain inks or markers

I paint wet on wet, this is awful paper. The paper may not be suitable for outdoor use. The surface falls apart too fast. If you paint very dry it's ok.

Pros
  • Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper - The pleasing random surface - not too rough - not too smooth this paper is stable and bleed-proof - particularly suitable for all mixed media.
Cons
  • The paper may not be suitable for outdoor use

Budget-friendly, travel-friendly painter sketchbooks

These compact books are small enough to easily fit in a tote or backpack and can be taken anywhere you feel inspired to do a rough watercolor, acrylic, pastel, or mixed media sketch. Each page has a smooth side and a slightly textured side, so it can truly accommodate a variety of mediums. I like the elastic band, so that the book stays closed while transporting. I also like the budget-friendly quality, because I won't likely use these books for final artworks (unless I do a collage)--why…

Pros
  • The paper's high-quality weight and texture give the impression of more expensive, professional-grade paper
Cons
  • The paper may not be as resistant to tearing as other watercolor paper options

Very nice! - my new review

The paper is not bright white which some may not like…it is a light cream color. However, the paper is heavy and takes watercolors very well. The price point is very good compared to most other watercolor journals. Will buy again.

Pros
  • The pad's compact size and lightweight design make it ideal for both indoor and outdoor painting sessions
Cons
  • The paper may not hold up well with repeated wetting and drying

Sweet little watercolor pads

These are excellent little watercolor paper pads. I take one with me with my traveling watercolors and brushes and so far they have held up great. Nice durable cover with an elastic band to hold it all together (and straighten out those watercolor-warped pages). I like the size of the sheets.

Pros
  • The paper is suitable for both wet and dry media, making it versatile and accommodating to various artistic styles
Cons
  • The paper may not be as heavyweight as other watercolor paper options

These are nice travel sketchbooks and I like the material and thickness. I'm no artist but they'll do for my own personal use.

Pros
  • Product Guarantee - Confidence comes from high quality and our continuous pursuit for perfectness. If you feel dissatisfied, we promise you a replacement or an immediate refund.
Cons
  • The paper may not hold up well in humid or wet conditions

Very nice paper! in my review

Very nice paper! These watercolor books are great for practicing techniques or small paintings. I was able to use more water than I thought I could on 110 lb paper. My daughter promptly grabbed up the other one! Shipping was on time and I will order again!

Pros
  • It's ideal for usage in art classes, art journals, sketchbooks, or as a gift for an artist friend
Cons
  • The paper may not be as suitable for textured effects as other watercolor paper options

Very nice for travel journaling

This is a very good value! The two pads are well made with good quality paper and an attractive and sturdy binding. My friend and I are sharing the set to use the pads as daily practice journals — they can be used with brushes and with watercolor pencils that can be wet with brushes after drawing. I’m very pleased.

Pros
  • Watercolor Paper
Cons
  • The paper may not be recommended for beginners due to its cost
