Quality Junk!: Meat

Junk! Only used once since ordering but expired return (I don't bake much) - temp was 180 degrees in just ½ hour. I checked that the probe was seated in the center of the roast and it did. Apparently a 4 1/2 pound roast beef couldn't be cooked in 30 minutes. When the probe cooled I noticed that the reading was not zero but 140. If I had noticed that on arrival I would have sent it back. Broken right out of the box. That's Taylor's quality for you!

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Low Repairability

Working well - kitchen and dining room

This thermometer is in good condition. It's cheap and seemed accurate when I checked it from time to time. This lasted a little less than two years. Face cracked in the oven. He couldn't get away from sudden temperature changes and didn't fall. It only cracked when roasting in the oven at a very medium temperature. It's easy to read and tidy. Again, it's very reasonably priced, but I figured it could last a bit longer and certainly wouldn't snap. maybe try a different brand next time.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Meat thermometer suitable for kitchen utensils and gadgets

This is a meat thermometer that I can read and understand. I LOVE this clinical thermometer. The face, font and numbers are big enough to be seen. I've had other thermometers that were so difficult to read I couldn't tell what was going on. Also, the indicator moves accurately - not like the last little one I bought that was everywhere. I like being able to move the black arrow to the setting I want to achieve. None of the stores I checked, including Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, and Fred…

Good and easy to read.

This thermometer has a very large face and hand area, so small changes in temperature cause noticeable hand movement for accurate readings. There is no mark below 120f, but the marked area is ideal for cooking or brewing meat as the temperature gradations are marked down to a degree f. There are no markings in Celsius. If you want maximum accuracy, there is a way to calibrate a thermometer. Mine seems to differ by less than a degree f and is very reproducible. It will slowly rise and stabilize…

Not durable for thermometer and timer

This is one of about a dozen meat thermometers I've used over the past two decades and is probably the worst. Bought this primarily for cooking turkey. Unlike instant read thermometers, it is designed to be inserted and left in the poultry or roast throughout the cooking process. I chose this model because of the large dial so I could possibly read the temp without lifting a 20 pound bird out of the oven. The thermometer also features an arrow on the dial that you supposedly set to the…
