Prepare to lose your music!

I have about 200 live shows that I recorded on TDK discs about 3 years ago. None of them are currently playable. In the future I will only use Mitsui Gold CDs.

Pros
  • Discs are stored on a handy compact spindle
Cons
  • Exterior

Waste of money

I bought 100 of these from Office Max. I've used them to record data and music and most of them have failed at various stages of the recording process. I'm really disappointed in them. Maxwell CD-R works better.

Pros
  • Pack of 100 CD-Rs for use with computer recorders
Cons
  • old

Never a problem with TDK

We use CD-R discs quite often here. I've been using TDK for several years now and have never had a problem. They used to sell them at our local Costco where I bought them. Then Costco switched to Sony. We immediately noticed some issues when trying to record two at the same time. (I have two DVD-RW burners on my system.) It wasn't a batch because I tried Sony a few times and encountered the same problem, also one of my co-workers had the same problem. So I can no longer buy TDKs from Costco but

As the guy below me said, "Prepare to lose your music! "

I recently bought a box of 100 of these 80 minute TDK CD-Rs. I burned about 20 discs (at slow 4x speed) only to find that my time, effort and money had been wasted. Almost every CD had serious playback errors. At first I thought it might be a CD player, but after trying the discs in other players I quickly realized it wasn't a CD player. Then I thought maybe something was wrong with the burner. No, because I then burned the music onto several Verbatim CD-Rs with no playback problems. Actually…

Pros
  • Pack of 100 CD-Rs for use with computer recorders
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

TDK CD-R quality is excellent and lasts longer.

I've learned a hard lesson over the years buying blank CD-Rs. I first bought a cheap untitled CD with a clean aluminum finish at a computer show. They were fine; They don't last as long as TDK, but they burn well. Only 2-5 bad drives in a pack of 100 failed. I decided to improve the appearance of the blank CDR for my next purchase and bought a Sony. TDK and Yamaha were noticeably more expensive. Sony CDRs (Smooth Pearlescent Surface) are the worst (read my review for Sony CD-R), the CD will…

Pros
