Great Filters: Coffee Filter

I don't rinse my filter before morning coffee as we use a timer. So I was worried the filters would give that cardboard taste that some have. I was positively surprised. The filters are perfect and the quality is high. it produces the clean coffee aroma normally associated with a good cone filter. We are very happy with it.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Disappointing.: Coffee and espresso machine spares and accessories

Packaged in a good, sturdy box with no damage - the filter box was dented and torn, obviously from someone trying to open it (I buy a lot of these , they are not so easy to open). The damage to the shipping box in my photo is because I printed it. I'm also attaching a photo of a few Technivorm filters I still have next to the 'new' ones I got. Hm. I think it's a switch!

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Great price

Mild (but present) paper taste

Almost nobody likes paper-flavored coffee. These filters are far from the worst filters I've come across, but they're definitely not the best. I bought these because my usual option - Filtropa - doesn't seem to be available at the moment. Compared to Filtropa filters, their thickness and functionality are about the same, but I definitely get a slightly more papery flavor in my cup. I wouldn't buy them again.

Pros
  • Nice thing
Cons
  • For old people

No Paper Taste - Disposable Filter

I was using a #4 brown filter (different brand) when it ran out and what the heck was a mistake! We've had overflow issues a few times. I think if you don't get this filter perfectly level the thicks will overflow through the bottom and clog the hole at the bottom of the funnel. So plant it properly (evenly). That's my best theory. I wish it was cheaper on Amazon.

Pros
  • Always Loved
Cons
  • Will Not Fit All

I expect it will last from now on

Cool to see in action. Brews a lot faster than the Zojirushi I've owned before. This is compensated for by the fact that the basket continues to drip for quite a while. The quality of Moonshine is about the same as Zoj. Kudos for the first truly leakproof urn I've ever encountered. Not much for a sentence basket that's pretty dirty. The urn keeps the coffee warm for more than an hour. Expensive but looks cool and I expect it to last from now on. There are many good brewers there. I chose this…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Updates available

Works fairly well with the coffee maker

We buy branded filters and a big brand name on a Technivorm that I've had for years. Sometimes the density of the filters has caused the basket to fold back and I always worry about white filters discoloring as you get some notes from unbleached brown paper filters. But we've never had any consistency issues with these filters, and while it may seem odd to buy them online, you can't find them in stores.

Pros
  • 100 CT boxed 100% recyclable
Cons
  • No power

Perfume smell/taste

I have bought these filters several times with no problems but the last filters I received smelled strongly of perfume. I tried brewing coffee with a filter to see if the smell carried over to the taste and unfortunately it did. It's strange that a company that makes an incredible (and very expensive) coffee maker should have such poor quality control. I hope this is an accident but I'm not sure I'll be ordering their filters in the future. I still love my Mokamaster, whatever the cost.

Pros
  • 100 carats per box, 100% recycled
Cons
  • Some bugs

Where has the taste gone?

I don't use paper filters so I found the machine horrible myself when I used it with my new MoccaMaster. The coffee was weak and tasteless no matter how I ground the coffee and how much I used. I switched to a permanent gold filter and the flavor is back. For anyone who has bought a new MoccaMaster and can't figure out why the coffee is weak and tasteless, it's the paper filters. Get a #4 permanent gold filter and the flavor will come back. If you normally use paper filters, I'm sure they're…

Pros
  • Doesn't alter the taste of your coffee
Cons
  • Legacy
