Technology Research 40100 Automatic Transfer Review

Be careful reading the setup as 45 pounds is inches not feet. This is misleading as it says "surge protection" but it is just a switch with no surge protection built in.

Works right out of the box. For switching between shore power and sine wave inverter. Has a 30 second delay before switching to the inverter. I assume this should allow the generator to spin. I would like to reduce this delay, but I can't find any technical support or information on the controller board.

I installed a switch on my RV that toggles between generator and inverter. Installed the system and used it on a trip that worked great for the 3 days we were there. While we were getting ready I switched on the inverter and the switch started making contact and then quickly popped back out. Update May 7th 2016: I used some rubber washers I found in warehouses to put them behind the mounting holes of the device, and now you can only hear the hum if you stand directly in front of it and try to hear it. It's been in production for about a month and I had nothing to worry about. Works 100% as expected so far. I also posted a photo of what the real block looks like. This switch came quickly (2 days) but the product is made of black plastic, not galvanized metal as it might appear in the picture. Also, TRC (Technology Research) was acquired by Southwire and the product is now Southwire. My main complaint after installation was the plastic box. The box is made out of fairly brittle plastic and I was very careful not to overtighten the taps to secure the box to the camper and am worried about the taps breaking on the road while driving.
