2015 Forester Plug N Play

This adapter is perfect for connecting our 15 year old Forester for towing a trailer. The U-Haul video is for another harness that needs to be drilled into the ground. Use the eTrailer video instead, very accurate for this part, but instead of closing the hatch on the wires, route the wire harness under the spare tire through the hole covered by the rubber plug. Works great, no complaints, I would recommend.

Pros
  • GOLS certification
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Very easy installation

This was a dead simple install - lift the spare tire cover, find the existing connector and just plug it in. I decided to leave it with the Subaru and pull it out when towing a trailer so the trailer plug isn't exposed to the elements. But to fit it to the bumper would require pulling/cutting the drain plug in the spare tire well and pulling it out to the hitch.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • There's something to nuanced

Installs quickly and works well

I have used this in my 2021 Crosstrack and it works like a charm. Installation takes about 10 minutes and is basically just sticking plastic tabs in the trunk to access the wiring harness. To tow a trailer, it simply extends backwards; Closing the trunk does not harm it. When not in use, I hide it in the spare wheel compartment under the floor panel. Remember to bring a plastic upholstery tool or you'll scratch the plastic while exposing the tabs for installation.

Pros
  • Same as everything so far
Cons
  • Negative present

Perfect for my Subaru

It comes with instructions and getting to the fork was easier than I thought. Truly plug and play. Well tested and suitable for the car. Great alternative to splicing wires. ONE PROBLEM: The fuse for this module is located near where it plugs in, BEHIND the wall of the wheel arch, which hides it. You can mark its location for future reference because if problems arise it's never in a well-lit store and it's easy to forget it's even there, especially when hidden. Nobody is listening to me, but…

Liked it!: Replacement parts

I installed this on my wife's 2013 Subaru Outback while I was installing the Draw-Tite 75673 Max-Frame receiver hitch. I installed the hitch from the inside of the rear cargo area so the floor and foam inserts were already removed from the car which helped locate the car's factory plug. It stuck straight away. I removed the spare wheel and routed the 4-pin flat connector from the outside of the car through the rubber grommet in the spare wheel well. I used the Reese Towpower 78096 universal…

It works well with wire harnesses

Delivered on time. It was easy to install as it just plugged into Subaru's existing wiring, but the instructions are very minimal and the connector was very difficult to reach. There are videos on YouTube showing the installation on the BASIC Outback. The LE model has accessories installed through the side panel that hold the panel firmly to the chassis, preventing you from reaching behind the panel to pull out the taped connector. It took about 30 minutes of careful research to figure out how…

Exactly as advertised good for electrics

I searched for Revain, entered my make and model information and found this. I've seen some people have issues, but I'm a woman and have never installed anything like this myself. I have a 2009 Subaru Forester LLBean that I recently bought and needed a hitch for. My fiance installed the hitch but I installed it myself. I've read how some connect to taillights to connect theirs etc. I just checked my owner's manual and noticed that there is a plug in the back under the foam inserts on the…

  • There are other interesting options.

Subaru Forester Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter

Installing this adapter was a breeze. If I had to build another car, exactly the same as the one I put it in, from the moment I opened the back door to the moment it closed again, it would have more than 10 minutes (if any). That includes the time it took me to find a small tool, which I used to pry out the plastic pins that hold the piece of foam that covers the actual Subaru connector that this unit fits onto. The connector it fits onto is on the floor of the car and the connector on this…
