This thing is great for checking plumbing and patching the gaps between cabinets and the wall. I got this because I hated always carrying around the huge supply our team provided. This does everything well except for the line shading. If you're looking for a quick analog testing phone that comes with all the accessories for different end types, this is a great deal.

Very small light weight product. I tested this by plugging it into the phone jack in the bedroom. You could hear the beep, but it was very quiet. There is no way to increase the beep volume. It might be fine for testing a phone jack indoors, but I'm wondering if it would be loud enough when used outdoors in a home test jack with all the background noise you might encounter. Cars, children, barking dogs, chirping birds, etc.

I wanted something cheap for a phone project at work and bought it mainly for clips to attach my tester to. I had a hard time using it on the '66 block because the clamps are small and stiff. The worst thing was that the phone didn't work and I didn't contact my stock to make sure the circuit actually worked until recently. Sometime in the future I will test the dead pair and see if it works with my tester.

I use this guy who installs intruder and fire alarm systems to find and identify beeps on ordinary telephone systems. I've had all the super expensive buttstock sets, but what I love about this Chinese special edition is its super adorable compact size and stupidly low price. It fits in my tool box and does everything I could ever need. And if I lose it somewhere, which I often do, another one costs about $15 and that in two days.

Don't expect all the features for a random occasion. I've used it for basic phone system debugging and it's worked great for that. It has some features but I never bothered to use them. I tried using the redial feature but could never get it to work. It also only stores the number for as long as it has power, so deleting clips and switching to a new line will wipe its redial feature (making it pretty much useless).
