Accurate probe but needs some work!

I bought this to use for smoking meat in my Weber kettle. It works quite well, but there are some things that could be improved. First, the probes are too long. When smoking I use Slow and Sear and there just isn't enough room for long probes and a fairly large chunk of meat. It is virtually impossible to keep the thermo wires from getting too close to hot coals. Second, there must be a bracket to mount the probe so that it is parallel to the gratings. Sometimes you just need to point the…

Amazing thermometer

Haven't cooked yet, got it in the mail today. But I can already say that I'm going to love this device after playing around with it a bit. The device feels solid and of good quality, the sensors appear to be very well made and it comes with handy storage holders to keep the cables from tangling together. The main reason I bought this machine over others was the alarm remote, after playing around with it it works exactly how I wanted it to. The remote has meat temperature settings as well as…

Poorly designed

I hate writing this review. I used to have the legendary TP-08. It was the best device I've ever had. My new roaster/smoker has arrived and I've decided to increase the number of channels on the thermometer so I can handle more meats. So the first drop of bitterness: the larger of the two devices is coming out. It does not work well. You have to do all the programming of the device from the outside. With the TP-08, programming is done on a larger device that is with you. 2: When outside of the…

Good enough thermometer for most uses

Not bad. reads the temperature from the main unit much faster than weber igrill2. The sensors read point by point, except for one of them. Still in a decent range IMO. This is my first RF system and I'm not sure if this is the result of RF and if all devices that use RF are the same, but the 10 second delay between the main device and the remote screen annoys me. it probably shouldn't, but it does. It's like the remote screen only updates its readings every 10 seconds. At the time of the…

Wow just wow! That's a great unit!

So in short, this is a fantastic thing. There is a learning curve, but nothing difficult to master. However, based on TP-07, this is what you need. Now the learning curve. You have to press a few buttons to set the temperature you want to set for each sensor. The lack of pre-programmed timings is also disappointing, but not enough to deduct a star. Once you learn the programming sequence, you'll find it's as easy as riding a bike. I smoked it twice and on my second smoke I didn't have to…
