It was good while it lasted, broke in less than 2 months

It worked well for a while, was very useful for making espresso in a repeatable way. Then one day when I lifted the scale, the top part (covering the entire scale from above) detached from the scale body (see first picture). After a few days it came off completely (see second photo). This part turned out to be taped to a piece of translucent double-sided tape. For real ? Couldn't the designers have found a safer way to mount it? There's no other way to lift the scales other than to grab this…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Good but not great for the kitchen and dining room

It's a bit unstable unless placed on a perfectly flat surface (like the grate on my espresso machine) but otherwise seems accurate and easy to read/interact with the "tare" button took a second to understand. The button doesn't touch it, but instead holds your finger over it - for about a second. The only really annoying issue is that when water hits the tare/on button, the scale sometimes shuts off mid-pour/draw. It seems the design needs to account for the possibility of water getting on the…

Nice scale but less accurate than $10

I bought this scale for espresso. Overall I like using it more than the $10 battery everyone recommends. It's nice that the surface is smooth, you can wipe them, they are not afraid of splashes (there are no buttons). The scale has some nice features like auto-timing, although unfortunately auto-tare would be more useful, but there isn't one. I have two complaints about the scale. First, it's not as accurate as the $10! Adding a coffee bean sometimes adds 0.3g of weight (impossible). If you…

Smooth, if somewhat limited

Bought to replace a more universal scale and in general I like it. Looks good and is great for making coffee. I've been using it for several months now and it has become an enjoyable and trouble-free part of my routine. You can also disable the beep, which is very handy when you don't want to disturb others in the morning. USB-C charging is also great and should be standard everywhere. It is also very compact, which saves space. However, there are some minor downsides. This scale is not very…

Accurate, easy to use and good value

The price range for coffee scales is wide. $20-$200+. Crazy. I haven't had the chance to look at this scale myself so I watched a few videos and read descriptions and reviews here on Revain and elsewhere. I use this to measure coffee beans and then the weight/ratio of my espresso shot. Key features for me were accuracy, 0.2g or better, as well as reasonable speed and sensitivity to small changes in the coffee. Acaia Pearl S is highly rated, it would be better if it cost about 3 times as much…

Decent scale and espresso timer

I bought this scale because after buying an expensive Breville espresso machine I realized that to make decent coffee you need both an accurate scale and a timer (among other things ) requires /timer based on the reviews and what others have said about other more expensive scales with similar functionality for the same purpose. Everything I have read about this device is true. It looks like a cheap product out of the box. Its buttons are very sensitive and the instructions for using the…

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

It's disappointing almost great. But not really.

The entire scale industry suffers from algorithmic problems, not only with coffee scales but also with personal and kitchen scales. The internal programming uses strain gauges and average values to generate a weight that we can read. Frustration comes from delays and postponements before they give us the desired outcome. Higher scales, including those for commercial and scientific use, are faster and more reproducible. Consumer and cheaper options tend to mitigate accuracy issues, rounding…
