Tried shorter versions with no satisfaction. When trying to free a stuck tow hitch, the shorter version didn't do the job. That was finally the right answer.
Has a small defect on the surface so I can't use it for sanding body panels with a cart as it will probably leave marks every time it hits the metal. May be suitable for tapping out stuck brake drums or discs.
I've only used it once since I received it to see how it works. I use it to fill holes in my driveway with rocks. This works great for squeezing and gripping the stone tightly. Once I'm done, I'll finish with a cold patch. Retail stores will benefit from selling such a tool.
This should be standard on all air hammer bit sets. Although it is believed to be used for bodywork. I use this to remove rust on the suspension or anything else rusty like brake drums. The shorter version is actually not so good for tight spaces because the spring retaining tabs get in the way.
If you have a pneumatic drill you MUST buy it. There are many amazing things you can do with hammer heads that don't typically come in kits. You can hammer the end of the rotor in the hub area to remove the rust! Knock the studs out of the exhaust pipe, don't fight them! How many times has this thing saved me from rusty suspension and subframe bolts, it has become one of my favorite tools!
I use this tool to knock out hydraulic wrist pins on tractor and backhoe attachments. They are ideal for this task as the large, flat surface transfers energy efficiently and avoids blunting the usual pointed and sharp bits that come with most air hammer sets. A specific tool designed for a specific purpose is far better than "making do" with what you have. protects both the tool and the attachment you are working with.
