TOPGREENER succeeds where Leviton failed

Before purchasing this switch I reviewed (do the same thing) two Leviton IPHS5 switches, both purchased from Home Depot. I know about electrics and yes they were installed correctly. My whispering Panasonic fan (which spins up slowly) just didn't work. The fan would start spinning slowly every few seconds and then shut off. After failing with Leviton I switched to this product hoping it would work. You haven't let me down. This product worked great the first time. Slightly less important is the

Pros
  • Not just useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are shortcomings

The sensor is said to be in the range of 45% to 80%. Apparently this happens in 3 stages. "Low" which I think is 45%, "Medium" which is 46-50% and "High" which is 85%. What happened to the whole range between 50% and 85%? Your guess is as good as mine. During the Wisconsin summer, the default setting of Medium causes the sensor to trigger on a wet summer day and stay on until the timer expires, only to turn back on. On the "High" setting, I have to turn the shower on for 5 minutes before itโ€ฆ

Works great though. best in Humidifier Parts & Accessories

After searching the internet I found that it is a good product that has been tested by customers and ordered it. Achilles heel 3 times. 1) Not knowing if someone turned the fan off mid-cycle, which turns off shower detection or humidity for that matter. I bought this because my roommate NEVER turns on the hot shower fan. 452) Does not fit in a standard box, I bought a deeper box that I need to install, which is common with this type of switch. The swivel nuts added to the wires take up spaceโ€ฆ

Working but limited

I bought this to replace the Wi-Fi switch that was triggered by the Wi-Fi humidity sensor. I was expecting - it didn't seem to work, and eventually I reset it to default. IF you manually control the fan switch THEN run it on a timed pattern (20 minutes I think) if you manually turn it off I think we might be tripping over the ugly and messing up the auto-detect settings - MAYBE I'm wrong - I didn't get it. We've found that it works best if you use it manually and then turn it off. Myโ€ฆ

Sounds good but doesn't work in practice

I think the main disadvantage of this type of device is that the warm, humid air created by the hot shower rises to the ceiling where the sensor is located in the device. can't see it. So the sensor registers a modest increase in humidity as warm, moist air erodes your ceiling and/or deposits moisture in your attic. For example, to test, I took a hot shower for about 15 minutes a day when the ambient humidity was about 65%, which is too high for the "medium" setting of 45-50%, so I used theโ€ฆ

There are bugs, but it works!

Unlike the Leviton version (which I've tried 2 of and had to return both of) this one actually feels damp and turns the fan on! I can't believe Leviton can't handle this very simple task, but it really isn't for me regardless of the settings! I also think the button on it looks a lot nicer and more secure than the one on the Leviton. When I pressed this button, I felt very uncomfortable. Cons - there are several. First, there are very few modes. You can set 3 humidity levels at which the fanโ€ฆ
