READ BEFORE BUYING!

Complicated assembly due to poor fit and finish. Screw holes misaligned etc. It seemed to run fine until loaded (well under the 1000lb mark) and then failed completely. The seals seem blown to me. Email sent to Thorin but no response, low quality product, no customer service. Do not buy this product or anything sold by this brand.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Works as expected, nice feature - thread levelers in all directions

The first jacks didn't work but the replacement came and worked great, used them under a 4 post lift to remove the transfer case and that was a very good way to save the body. In the past I've put things in place and the mounting screws have been installed by someone else. I'm older and not in recovery, nor do I have to wait for help.

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • Not the best

Suitable for occasional use

Bought to pull my son's 2002 Avalanche transmission. Worked well even though you don't want to jack the gearbox up far. Raising, lowering and adjusting the angles was easy enough when reinstalling the gearbox. If you do this from time to time it will be very good. If you do this regularly, you probably need a more expensive jack. Without this jack, pulling the gearbox off would be a lot more difficult.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Torin transmission jack

Received the box about 2 weeks ago, the box was torn and the bag with all the gear was missing. I called Thorin and told them about the missing equipment. About a week later I received the missing equipment, assembled the jack and checked its operation. I did a great job. I would advise Thorin to put two extra tapes on the box. The two extra strips would have prevented the box from tearing and spilling the contents, or increased the thickness of the box.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Exchange option

Didn't work right out of the box!

I assembled everything, carried out the deflation procedure as per the instructions, never inflated. I called the 800 number they provided, I was on hold for 25 minutes, then got a recording to leave my name and phone number and someone would call me back. They never did. At the end of the day I requested a replacement socket, let's see if the second one works. My advice is to test the cylinder before building anything, I'll do that with the next one. Revain made it really easy to come back…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Periodicity

Very stable – vehicle jacks, hoists and jacks

This transmission jack is ideal for removing and installing transmissions and/or transfer cases. Remember that to use it you must work under a real lift; either a two-post or an electric lift. In other words, this jack should not be used if you intend to remove or install the transmission while the vehicle is on jack stands or on short ramps. The processing quality is first class, the instructions are clearly written. Assembly was easy and the parts package included everything needed to…

This is one of them: Tools and Equipment

This is the best jack design for the price. I used it on a Bendpack scissor lift with a crossbar (the back of the gearbox is locked) and I had to use a different, shorter gearbox jack and then switch to a Thorine (the Torin is flush with the gearbox in its lowest position). I had a strong assistant that could hold half the weight while I removed the jack from the jack.) You want a structure that pivots in 4 directions, not just 2. To work that way. Bottom line, this jack makes the job a lot…

Cheap and poor quality but it works.

If you're looking for a cheap transmission jack, it works. What can I say, the quality is bad. After assembly, one of the wheel legs was about an inch taller than the other three, causing it to wobble a lot. One of the screw holes just didn't match the legs so I only installed two of the three screws on one side (there is also a guide so this isn't the cause of misalignment). The estimate of £1,000 is ridiculous; after dropping the manual gearbox out of the BMW 335i, he actually bent his legs…

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Vanish
