If I could give this place zero stars, I would. It worked great for 6 months and then my computer stopped recognizing it. I tried a new cable and it didn't work. I took it to a data recovery center and they offered me $1,900 to restore everything to it. They said that the broken part should be replaced in a clean room and is very delicate. It worked perfectly for me! I have a laptop with a lot of photos on it. Unfortunately some of them seem to be duplicates and there are so many different folders and images that it would be very difficult to organize them all and remove duplicates. I bought this drive because it had such good reviews even though it is formatted for PC and I needed it for my MacBook Pro - and all external drives already formatted for Mac are are more expensive . As soon as I connected it to my MacBook, Time Machine automatically launched and asked if I wanted to use Canvio for backup, to which I answered yes. I take LOTS of photos. I was concerned that my computer was several years old and one day I would try to turn it on and it wouldn't start. So I bought it to use as a backup. It's been about a week for me and I've already filled up over 100GB (that's with every picture, file and document I have on my computer). I have just over 800GB left! Bought this hard drive for my daughter at university in 2015. Worked well for 2 years and suddenly stopped working in 2018. The hard drive was not connected to any device. Looking through the user reviews here, we realized that the problem might have been with the cable. And it was! The hard drive works great but I would suggest buying an extra cable in case you run into this: problem. Can't give 5 stars for this reason.

And here it is again, the second time this drive has failed after 6 months of use. Suddenly the hard drive is not recognized and reports that the data is corrupt. As? Since nothing was written to it for several months, it was turned off more often than it was turned on. I lost over 800 gigabytes of data again. I suspect this product is either fake or "outdated", neither of which is advertised. I won't buy anymore. With an SSD from another manufacturer, I reject Toshiba.

This hard drive worked fine for the first 6 months. After that everything was fine. Sometimes he was recognized, sometimes not. Then 3 months ago it was no longer recognized at all. Lost photos of friends who are no longer alive, my wedding, my nephews, all my music and games and many important documents. Reading other reviews I'm not the only one with this problem. Get out of trouble. Don't buy a Toshiba external hard drive. It's not worth the risk of losing what's important to you.
