Turn a 3.5mm headset into a USB headset

I needed a USB headset to use Microsoft Teams. I had a 3.5mm headset that I connected to my cell phone to make calls, but when communication switched from phone calls to Teams calls, I needed a headset that connected to a laptop via a USB port could be connected instead of a mobile phone. This 3.5mm to USB audio adapter allowed me to continue using my current headset without having to buy a new headset just to access my laptop's USB port. This has saved me both money and desktop space by…

Works with my headset + microphone!

The reason I bought it was that I needed a USB adapter for my Corsair HS35 stereo gaming headset. I wanted the headset and microphone to show up as USB devices in my control panel for easier enabling/disabling when needed. I'm sharing a picture of my headset for reference, and below is the Corsair USB adapter that goes with the second headset I'm using it with. Since I couldn't find a Corsair USB adapter commercially, I was hoping this TROND USB audio adapter would serve the same purpose. It…

Doesn't support TRRS or is just broken

Got mine back within minutes of arrival. For that I thank the company and Revain for a painless return but as a product it failed. Seriously, this needs a "You had a job" GIF animation. I needed it for a purpose, to add a microphone from the headset to my daughter's laptop from school, which only has a headphone jack (3 pins). And that it didn't work. I tried 3 different TRRS kits and tested the device on 4 different computers to be sure. Windows detected a microphone input from the device, but

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Damaged

It works well for audio output, but the microphone input doesn't have the expected gain control range. My headset has a dynamic mic so the volume may be lower than a regular headset with an electret mic, but the same headset works fine with regular laptop audio jacks. Clip even by creating a loop connection from output to input. I expected that from a line in, not a mic in. It looks like the device I received does not contain the advertised C-Media HS-100B chip. The data sheet for the HS-100B…

Solves problems with Y-cables and more

Funny I meant to return this product but I'm glad I didn't; I originally bought this for a HyperX Cloud headset that routed audio to the mic input via the included Y-cable splitter, and it solved the problem of audio leaking through the cable (even when the mic was muted). But in the end I returned this headset and bought a new one, this time Coolermaster MH751. I was under the impression that my audio problem only affected HyperX, but that's not the case; Same issue with audio leaking through…

Least interference is best with external sound cards

It all depends on what your goal is. I use mine with my computer. I've tried many different mics and find the lavalier mic works best for me. I used lavalier USB mics as well as a 3.5 plug-in mic. "Golden Wave". I found this less confusing than the app that starts with "A" but it's a good app too. What I find interesting, and I'm by no means an expert, is that if I plug in a lavalier mic 3.5 and then plug it into my computer when I'm not recording, almost on what I call "jumping tapes". no…
