My pen didn't have a metal ring insert. I was able to salvage the ring from the old handle and it works, but I had to cut out the shank of the old handle and also use small needle nose pliers to get the old ring out - if you don't have the right pliers handy you would get stuck. Finally everything seems to be working. The seller's service (like shipping times) was great but I would be wary of this pen - having to buy the ring insert separately turns a 'good deal' into a 'bad deal'.

Edit: It's been a year of constant use and the handle still holds up to abuse. Edit: 5 months later it's still holding up well. We are a family of 4 and do laundry all the time so this has held up to the abuse so far. The original pin broke off at the handle. It was hardened plastic and I'm surprised it didn't break sooner. This "unbreakable" replacement pen has a perfect fit and a metal band around the plastic barrel. Time will tell if it will last as long as the dryer itself.

This control knob arrived and when I started installing it was too loose to be effective. When placed on the switch stem, it wobbles and slides just to rotate the stem. It falls off easily at the slightest shake or shake. I had to add some tape to the switch stem to make it thick enough for this control knob to stay on. The new one has a metal strip where the handle goes to the controller which I think makes it more durable. Looks just like the original, the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is how hard I had to squeeze to put the new one on. I was afraid of breaking something else. Easy to put on. I bought it in mid-July 2021. It lasted until December 11, 2021. Now the metal part in the plastic rotates freely. It says 100% satisfaction with the product.
