Expensive but good product.

My plants grow back after using the substrate. I didn't rinse the substrate before use, it took about 4 days for the water to become crystal clear.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • weak

Better than expected

This aquarium substrate is better than I expected. I figured I would have to flush and filter the soil before planting the seeds and plants in the new plant, but was glad that wasn't necessary. I am also pleased that my seeds germinated quickly and are growing quickly. We'll pick up a big sack when I get back to my 50 gallon tank.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Doubtful

Too light but works

No dust, no cleaning. Bought for my new aquarium. One bag is only enough for a 1 gallon tank so don't believe these pictures. Earth does not melt in water, but is very light. The quality is high, you can really see the difference between them. Three stars for good quality and nothing else.

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Appearance

So I've used Contrasoil before and I know it's a good product. My only issue with what I bought was that when I tried to count I thought I was going to get a much larger bag. It turns out that the largest bag only weighs about 3 liters (6 pounds)! That's normal for a 5 gallon tank or something. But if you're mean like that and have some extra, that means I now have to spend another 30-50 to buy a big bag that will actually fill my entire 20 gallon tank.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Something different

Will buy again good for fish and aquatic animals

Small 3mm. Bought 2 bags when they were $50 each. There was a 15% discount. Wanted to try controlling soil and when I saw YouTube videos of people comparing Ultum Nature Controsoil to ADA (Revainia) soil I had to have it and wasn't disappointed. hands get dirty when wet. There was a yellow tint when filling the aquarium, but I didn't have a mud tank 👍 and within a day with the filter it was crystal clear. The only downside is that my fish find it easier to pick up plants, but don't blame them.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Great substrate - unless left open

I sanded it originally which was great. Plants thrived for the most part (this was the first time I've fully planted my aquarium, so a meltdown was to be expected, and it did). But then I had to take my tank to a college dorm and it was dirty for days. Thank goodness I had a spare bowl for my rooster, otherwise he would have literally thought he was in a goddamn swamp. After everything settled I added more sand and now everything is fine except for a small amount of sediment that still seems to

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • I don't dislike it, it's fine

Great for armored catfish! Amazing substrate!

Great substrate! You can't go wrong with this! The washed off substrate gets very muddy and messy which took me a lot of effort, it also made my aquarium very dirty and dusty all night but after four hours it was clear enough to add my fish back in. The water was crystal clear the next morning, I'll probably update in a few months to see if my plants are doing any better than the gravel they were in, but I have high hopes for this soil. This soil is ideal for soil feeders! I have an armored…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
