The rope was tied well but the fourth time I used it it suddenly came loose and I saw the disc disappear from view forever! It's pretty frustrating to pay $30 for something and then lose it because they can't tie the knot properly. I plan to order another one but not from this company!

When opening the package, do not assume that the nylon cord is securely attached to the disc as it is not. It appears to be secured with a decent knot, but we saw our disc sink to the bottom of our lake on first use. Honestly, delivery can come with a big fat warning. This Secchi disc is light but suitable for use in shallow water. The problem is the very thin line marked in feet. Most of us don't need more than a few yards of cord, and it would be far better to have a heavier gauge cord marked in tenths of a yard. Since the hole through which the leash is inserted is very small, you cannot attach a proper leash.
