At first I thought I was doing something wrong when I saw dirty water in the top tank of the bucket, but I checked again manually and the filtered water is actually in the lower tank. The filtered water is pumped back to the fresh water station (the comb-like part attached to the bucket) where the mop head is re-wetted as it rotates. Tldr: I really liked this mop at first but it got used a lot and I couldn't stand it. In the long run, this is probably only suitable for light cleaning. We have 5 dogs, 2 little boys and even some extras like chickens and a pig or two in the house from time to time. Needless to say, the floors get dirty.
