Can prepare your hard drive

I have very low powered WD Green and WD Red drives that run at a slow 5900 RPM but still get hot in this thing. The drive in my PC (without the fan next to it) is 38°C (100°F), while my very similar drive in this case is running at 48°C (119°F), and that's at 23°C (74°F ) ambient temperature. A more standard 7200rpm desktop drive will certainly get a lot hotter and will likely exceed its maximum temperature and in that case not last long. NOT USB 3.1, only USB 3.0 speeds. Also, watch out for excessive heat during long transfers.

There is currently 1 TB 850 EVO in the case. Works well, but I'm deducting a star because it's advertised as a USB 3.1 enclosure. No, that is not so. The SATA/USB controller is the ASM-105x, which is a USB 3.0 controller (this information can easily be found on Google). Because of this, the drive will work the same whether you have a USB 3.0 port or a USB 3.1A/USB 3.1C port. I've tested it across USB 3.1 and USB 3.0 ports and the speed has always been within error. DO NOT BUY - if your SSD already contains data

I already have an SSK NVME enclosure (SHE-C325) that I bought from Revain a few months ago. It works well but overheats, probably because it uses the JMicron JM583 chipset, which is notorious for its excessive power consumption. Needed a second enclosure for disk cloning. I usually put too much emphasis on product research. But in this case I bought this WavLink in a 'promotional kit' with another item I bought.
