manual dexterity required

Honda Pilot 2005. Product itself is ok, strong as far as I can tell. Although the screws have a different thread system, metric/imperial. One of them broke and I couldn't get it out. One of the brackets had to be cut with a grinder to fit the left side. Forget the instructions, useless. Just use your common sense and lots of tools.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative impression

Good kit, difficult installation.

This set of footrests didn't "just" fit my 2006 Pilot. The ends of the rear brackets had to be ground down about 1/4 inch and a center bracket had a section cut off due to interference with the frame and skid plate. Also, I found the instructions a bit vague. Overall they are solid and I am happy with how my new footpegs look so far!

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Doubtful

Installation is harder than it looks.

Instructions are not clear. The holes do not match the body. I can only find (where the 3 metal pieces go, I don't know where the L shaped ones are). It's hard to tell which metal bar goes back, middle, front. To be clear they have to write it step by step and for specific models. I think in my 2005 I'll have to remove the trim under the car and cut it out to actually fit the metal parts or drill some holes.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Overfitting

I bought the product because the product description mentioned that no drilling is required. But to install it, screws would have to be screwed into the body of the SUV. I'm not sure why this kit doesn't use the existing bolt holes that the Honda kit uses. There are also 6 hard-to-reach self-tapping screws, and this is not an independent installation. I had a hard time finding a knowledgeable mechanic who could read and install the kit and stand.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Good luck with your tire change

This is not a screw kit and not for beginners. It's clear Westin hasn't seen the 2007 Honda Pilot. The instructions weren't even remotely accurate, and I basically had to figure things out on my own. The instructions give 2 sets of factory holes and there are 3 on the machine. The set shows holes in places where the drill did not fit. I had to purchase additional hardware for the mounts that fit. The brackets remain. I had to cut an inch off a bracket to fit the skid plate. I had to relocate…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Frequency

Let me tell you about the numerous problems associated with this product. 1) The instructions are very poorly written. There are no part markings at all, so you can only guess which mount goes where. Use my "unboxing picture" to help you figure this out so you don't go through the same pain I went through. The manual consists of 4 pages, but is written in several languages. They have divided the whole process into 4 steps, each consisting of 1-2 lines, which is not enough to explain anything…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Speed Board

Not for the faint of heart, but worth it if you're determined!

Well, where do I start. This mounting kit is very solid with strong brackets, great screws and lots of hardware which makes me understand (once it arrived) why it costs so much. It takes a lot of equipment to fit in a car. The instruction manual is good. Here is the instruction manual. There are very few instructions and pictures. Actually it's even worse because it's not really that much, but luckily I went to the Honda Pilot online forums and someone provided a link to another installation…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Not everything fits
