Does what it's supposed to do

I have several 1/4” router bits and this allows me to use these bits with a router in my router table that only has a 1/2” collet. It's a lot cheaper to buy an adapter than to buy extra bits with 1/2" shanks. It seems well made and works well.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • old

Well machined general purpose collet, fits perfectly

I bought these Whiteside collets to replace one I lost from my old Ryobi R500 router. This is universal gearing so I think it will fit almost any router that fits a 1/2" to 1/4" bitshaft gear. The workmanship is well done and it works just like the original factory part. I'll buy another one if I lose this one.

Fits perfectly with my master router

Reluctant to buy because I didn't know what I needed. I figured I could send it back if that was the wrong part. Very glad it fits perfectly in my Craftsman router. Used all day yesterday with no problems. Also, I went to my local "big hardware store" to look for this part before ordering online. They had nothing. The seller opened a new box and looked for this part. Apparently new routers don't come with this adapter? If I were to buy a new router, I would still need to order this part in…

It made my quick change collet even more versatile

I bought a MuscleChuck quick change collet but forgot to buy an adapter so when using a 1/4" shank bit I can transfer it to one of my other routers had to change as installing and removing MuscleChuck effectively robs it of its purpose. To solve the problem of using 1/4" shank bits in my MuscleChuck, I purchased this adapter. a solid fit so the exterior finish was top notch. Inserting the 1/4" wand nozzle into the adapter was the same as installing the adapter. Tightening the chuck fixed the…

Great people to deal with if your part doesn't work and you need a refund

Based on another review from someone who bought this for their delta shaper I decided to give it a go to try. Let me just say the product looks and feels like it was made in the USA. Unfortunately, it couldn't grip my router bits firmly enough without slipping. My shaper bites into a 1/2" drill just fine, but maybe the Delta collet is preventing it from working on my Delta 43-505 T1 machine. Please note that there is also a T2 and a TA shaper. 43-505 series but it didn't work for me. When I…

Where's my collet?

I loaned my new Kobalt 12 amp router and router table to a friend shortly after I bought a router table on a Black Friday sale. My friend assembled the table. Left the router with him until a few months later when I had room for it and wanted to try my first router project framing a bookshelf. Neither of us could locate the missing 1/4" collet. Called Kobalt customer service to order replacements. Called twice to record they were very busy due to limited staff due to the COVID-19 pandemic and…
