Great addition to the XJ!

I've had this filter along with the WIX housing 24763 in my 1996 Jeep Cherokee for a few months now and the coolant in my expansion tank is as green and particle free as it was the day I got it filled it out. This filter is a great addition to the XJ. It can even reduce the frequency of cooling system flushes.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • don't remember

Perfect fit for my Sinister cooling system

When you finally have a powerstroke diesel after 15 service advisers from three different states told you the 6.0 powerstroke is a good engine if you { expensive aftermarket update here insert }. This filter easily complements my Sinister Coolant filter system. For my time and effort finding Napa auto parts, Revain makes it easy to have one on hand at every oil change.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Weight

Not suitable for water soluble liquids

I bought this filter to fit my 6.0 liter diesel engine, when I went to change it it was nothing but mush, in fact the parts themselves were rusty. I cut it open to see all the judder and rattle in the paper looks like a mess everything is torn apart this filter might fit because it is rated for hydraulic oil but it is not intended for water soluble situations if if you open one after you've used it, you won't use it again

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Negative gift

Good for the application!

After using WIX filters in a variety of applications for many years, I purchased them for a Sinister Diesel coolant filtration system for a 2004 Ford 6.0 diesel car. I changed the 1st filter 500 miles after the original install and am working on the 2nd filter. Not sure what the negative review is about, maybe they leave them on for too long, but they seem a good fit for the app. Of course I found them elsewhere for a better price and bought a box of them.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.

I've trapped a lot of metal particles in my coolant

After repeated flushing with dirty coolant, decided to install a coolant filter system on a 1997 Lincoln Town Car. I cut open the filter and as you can see it trapped a lot of particles along with the dirty coolant. This is after I changed the filter after 1000 km. I plan to change the filter at every oil change. I also put an in-line filter on the upper radiator hose to capture large particles. They all work. Highly recommended if you have an old car.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

rust in the filter.

This filter is included with my coolant filter so I used it a few times before noticing the filter itself was rusting. When I first changed the filter I noticed rust so I did a superflush with Rebuild and Rebuild+ with 30 gallons of distilled water and Fumoto valves to drain the block. After all that, and to make sure I was getting a clean mix of water and coolant, I installed a new filter. I changed the filter on my next oil change and it was rusty like the others. Then I went for Fleet Guard…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only
