I really like this tool!

I used this tool to repair a bar stool seat that broke at one of the seat hinges. It was very easy to use, right out of the box. I used the centering posts on the front to center the hole on the edge of the stool seat and used a couple of clips, one on each side, to hold it in place while drilling. This was a great guide to keeping the holes perpendicular to the work surface and carefully centering the holes along the edge. I then used the centers of the dowels to mark the opposite side and…

Wolfcraft Fast Dowel Machine Overview 4641404

Everyone. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think it takes some skill to use it flawlessly. more skills than the average person i think. And the reason this might be the case is that I think the quality of the device isn't quite what it should be to ensure a flawless fix. But you can deal with that. but probably not without some grinding afterwards.

  • Satisfied so far

  • Not sure

It didn't work as well as expected.

Partially working. The block is made of plastic and is very flexible so the block will move when you drill it with a hand drill. There is no way to press it firmly onto the board, so when drilling you have to hold the drill jig with one hand and the drill bit with the other so that the device moves and the holes are not in the intended place. I've used it to make some simple pins but the results weren't as good as I expected. I got it thinking it would be ok for the limited use I have, but I…

Buy something better

Fairly weak, needs a bit of fiddling to get it straight and accurate. There are no marks on the back when lined up as a whole. Only the slit that runs the full length of the back is quite wide. I took a felt tip pen and marked the slots so that each time I lined up the hole pretty close. There's really no good way to fix this. The template wants to slide everywhere so I took two clamps and clamped them where I could or holes would be everywhere. To adjust the depth of the hole, loosen the two…

Smart but fragile

Good idea but poorly executed. Housing made of soft, fragile plastic. It fell off my workbench on the first job and when it hit the ground one of the four pins/pins broke off flush with the body. These pins are an integral part of the dowel centering system at the end of the board, so I no longer need ¼" dowels! Thing is, it takes some brute force to get some accuracy, but if it breaks that easily, how much Can I use brute force and how many times before it just falls apart? Also, the drill bit
