Good buy best in generators and portable power supplies

Easily accepts 6 gauge wire. It is not recommended to use smaller cables for 30 amps or more. Why switch from gauge 6 to gauge 10 or less? I've had one for 21 years, now I've bought a new one and put the old one away as a spare. You can't leave without a spare or down.

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons

Cool charger! - Generators and Portable Power Supplies

A workhorse, this PWM charger is very well built and reliable. It has all the necessary controls. It is designed for use with conduit or flexible cable as in a building control installation. However, do not use it outdoors without a case. If the current exceeds 10 amps, air the radiators.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • No instructions

Reliable base technology

I've been looking for the right controller for a long time and here it is. It's a simple but smart and robust system rather than fancy packaging at a great price. I am using this for my home solar system, am continuing to research other controllers and will be purchasing another Xantrex for my RV system. This controller has been monitoring and maintaining my system since August 2013. I had to contact support about something I didn't understand and I was pleased with the quick response, courtesy

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Crumpled

Well made metal case so you can use the cable connectors in the cut outs of the box. The electronics board looks very solid and the heatsinks look like they will last a long time. So far I am very satisfied with this device and the price was great. I'm using 30 amps or so at 24 volts, as expected the unit heats up quite a bit. The input and output power is very close, not much energy is wasted in the controller. I am very satisfied, I will order more for a spare part.

Easy install, great instructions, works great.

I bought this for my PV system consisting of 5 100w modules, a 1500w sine wave inverter and a 250ah battery. The controller comes with default settings for a 12V charge controller (although it can be configured for 12, 24, 48 and load controllers etc.). It comes with a thick detailed manual in real English and has internal adjustments for bulk charge and float charge levels. Installation took less than 15 minutes (4 connections plus installation) and everything works very well. With a 500w…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Some bugs

Xantrex C40 as a charge controller for DC power supply and 400Ah batteries

With enough power from our charger, the C40 keeps the battery charged to a few tenths of a volt. The application is a backup power system on a remote amateur radio repeater. We have two 200Ah batteries charging from a 70A DC source. The D-Star repeater system connects directly to the batteries. AC power for the computer and accessories is provided by a Xantrex sine wave inverter, which is also connected to batteries. The C40 is set to ramp the battery down to 14.5V and then slowly let it drop…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Protection

Mine died and the replacement unit was defective too!

These are great controllers but this time I got a lemon. After a while it stopped loading completely. Thanks to Revain I was able to easily provide proof of purchase and the company sent me a replacement. I installed it and it didn't work from the start. It took me a while to double check everything and make sure the problem wasn't something else, but the controller definitely didn't work on day one. So far I have spent a lot of time on this topic. I ended up buying another smaller controller…

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Negative impression
