Yes Welder 180 View

I was skeptical at first. I compared the plastic to my Lincoln. I thought the YesWelder plastic felt flimsy and cheap. Compared to the Lincoln, it's about the same without the use of a caliber. I find the brim of the Lincoln helmet has a large seam that makes it appear thicker. The actual view makes the appearance of welding and bonding different day and night. I would never go back to the old one. I've always had vision problems and now it's like someone removed the tint from the sedan. Theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Compatibility

I've read reviews that the materials are cheap. I took the risk anyway and YOU ARE RIGHT. Insanely bad materials; Here I thought that the $50 fixed lens hood I got from the aftermarket store seemed cheap to me. I was concerned that the headband would tear, snap or somehow break when adjusting, everything is plastic including the screws. Pretty soft plastic. Because it's so cheap, it flexes a lot. You have to tighten things up a lot so they're stiff enough to support the weight of the hood whenโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High test scores for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Very good helmet

I've been welding since I've been in the mud and auto-darkening welding helmets are a godsend. The cheap ones have a narrow slit that you try to see (and this ignores activation time etc). This type of helmet represents the next generation of helmets we need for this type of work (I'm retired though). My brother was welding next to me while I was adjusting something and the sidebar on the left obscured what he was welding and I could still see what I was adjusting (and if I moved the other side

VERY impressed so far

I only received this hood a few days ago and have only used it for a few minutes so far. I will come back later with a more detailed review when I use it longer. First let me say that I am what most would call an amateur welder, not a professional. I bought this out of frustration with my very expensive Miller Elite hood, which I have to fiddle with for 15-20 minutes to turn it on every time I use it. The switches are very finicky. I had a flare up the other day after it wouldn't turn on afterโ€ฆ
