Cartridge is not the same size as the one it replaces; he is smaller. The label and box says this is a TN-450 and will work with the Brother printers listed on my laser's label. This unit replaces the toner INSIDE the old DRUM. The printed instructions are not clear. I didn't get it until I saw the video. But now it works great. It's not a one step process like I thought with other whole cartridges. I'm trying to keep a few cartridges handy. I haven't used my last purchase yet. Of the two previous cartridges, one was excellent and the second was practically useless. The defective cartridge had a clearly visible chip that was broken off, causing a solid black line to appear down the center of the printed page. When I got the cartridges up and running it had been too long to ask for a refund or replacement. I'm just thinking what it costs if one out of three or four is defective.

Immediately after installing this toner cartridge, I noticed ink smudges/debris at the top of each page. Sometimes the ink also smudges on the page. I don't use my printer that often but when the toner finally ran out a few years later I was afraid to buy a replacement because I thought that it would cost almost as much as the printer initially cost. But I've tried this replacement and am pleasantly surprised so far. It was well packaged and had clear instructions; They only replace a small part of the big thing you usually pull out to clear a paper jam.
