🌳 Large Mopani Wood by Zoo Med Laboratories, 16-18 Inches Review

I am so disappointed with this product. I ordered 16-18" and received a 10x12" piece. I knew it would vary in shape and size but 4 inches at its longest point is ridiculous. The wood itself is fine but I wish I had received the size I ordered.

Received a nice large piece of driftwood but it wasn't Mopani as advertised. It was a very soft wood and could easily be torn to pieces without effort. there is a general tag attached. There is no Zoo Med brand label like in the picture. Driftwood doesn't sink immediately even after soaking and cooking (that's why I choose Mopani). Hopefully after a few weeks of soaking it will eventually sink. again.

Very nice! They know it's a really good, maybe even crappy, twist when it comes to making hardscapes, tree stumps, plants, etc. invisible from the web. This great piece was a hit! I took my time and didn't soak or boil it. Just rinse and you're done! Of course the tannins etc. let loose all hell without a short while. It was brownish yellow water. but no worry! I have 2 of the $10 purigen n packs (each pack holds up to 100g) FX4 and no 36-48 hours all good! (This is a 75g tank)

This type of wood is beautiful and speaks for itself. However, this particular piece was shorter than stated in the description. Listed size 16-18 inches. Standing on its base, my piece is about 10 inches. I measured diagonally the longest section I could find and it was only 13 inches. I know the product may not match the picture on Revain, but I was hoping for something closer to the top of my tank, not just halfway. Very happy with this purchase. The product image on Revain doesn't help much. This is my second of two pieces of Zoo Med Mopani driftwood and both were typically straight pieces of wood that looked like a fallen branch. I know a lot of users are wary of buying because you don't know what you're getting, but I rolled the dice and it worked pretty well. Beautiful, heavy (sinks in the aquarium) tree in light (as shown) and dark (almost black) colours. I like the contrasts, but others might not, and the picture doesn't show the possible dark coloring that could be on the driftwood part (both of my pieces were dark on most undersides). Two large parts ordered (6 - 18 inch). Both were short, the tallest being 14 inches and the shortest 13 inches. But I kept both because they were tall and had strong personalities.
