Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Heater Medium Review

This is a great product, along with the thermostat it keeps my snake nice and cosy. I've had to pair it with a heat lamp for better ambient temperatures, but that's partly because I have a thick layer of Aspect underneath that my snake likes to burrow into.

This product works but not as I expected. After almost a year it adheres well to the bottom of the aquarium pane. The lack of expectation is that it just doesn't deliver much heat, even when I put my hand directly on the glass above. I've sometimes wondered why I keep it connected to the network at all.

Stays nice and warm, no problem. The problem is that when the mat warps from the heat after a year or so, the adhesive isn't strong enough to hold it to the bottom of the tank. There aren't many options, so this might be as good as it gets. Note: For new reptile owners, you MUST purchase a thermostat to control the temperature, it gets hot! Up to 130F is easy.

Stops working after 6 months. But? I will buy another. Nothing else works like this. I've been using them for years and have never had a problem with them getting hot enough to burn or explode my lizard which sometimes happens with heating pads. I attribute this to some quality control issues, not so bad that I had to redo the heat setting around a new pad that may be less secure. I like everything about this heating pad except the adhesion. This replaces the one that had the same problem and its replacement stayed the same but just didn't work in the end. When sticking the original I just had the tank on the tiny spacers that come with the product. The company replaced it and my husband welded on a stand that allows for much more airflow. The replacement worked for about a year and then stopped. I ordered this and after about 6 weeks it fell right out of the tank. I…
