Poor quality of the bulb I bought

This bulb has poor contact. If you compare the two ends (two photos) you can see that the problem is in the bulb. The pins on one end are so short they can barely turn the plastic part on the hood. They are also articulated, unlike the other end which is fixed to the piston. The packaging was not damaged. I need to replace the lightbulb because although I can plug it in if I keep fiddling with it, it goes out every time I touch the hood.

  • This is amazing

It works - can't tell much of a difference.

Plugged in and turned on. Only time will tell if it performs any better than the Aqueon Full Spectrum I drew from it. I've had the hood for about a year now and wanted a nice bright light. This one was cheap and seemed to work. There are a few plants in the aquarium but they grew well with the old light - I expect this light to do the same. I didn't notice any lighter tanking or any real change. I'll do my best to keep working for a few months after giving this bulb some time to work.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

Perfect for my fancy goldfish.

Perfect bulbs for my fancy Oranda goldfish freshwater aquarium. I had an issue with my fish changing color (going 100% orange) and excessive algae growth when using brighter full spectrum lights, so I switched to these 5500K lights for both tanks and loved them. I've been using it for over a year now with no problems. The tanks look great and the fish have beautiful bright colors. Since both of my tanks have artificial plants I'm not sure how beneficial they will be for plant growth, but I…

Great light for plants in low to medium light conditions

I use it for planted terrariums and plant shelves. It works great with smaller terrariums and shelves. I have low to moderately photophilic plants and they grow very well with it. For deeper terrariums or lighter colored plants, flood lighting or something with a higher light output is recommended. I have found my sun loving plants to still stretch under this light even when they are 30cm from the lamp (note Sedum, second small plant from the left stretching. Usually a groundcover growing close

  • Easy to install

  • Has flaws

Yellow tint for fish and aquatic animals

I have noticed that algae growth has increased significantly with these lights despite doing weekly water changes. It seemed to me that I was constantly rubbing, and my snails did not have time. They definitely emit more of a yellowish color, which didn't work well with my white and bi-colored goldfish (making them look yellow instead of white). In my gravel tank it really shows off the yellow color of the gravel and in the photos it looks like canned corn not rocks. I've used them all the time

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Hard to tell
