Game Changer: Reptiles and Amphibians

This wire dome is definitely a game changer. I use a mercury lamp that heats up. It kept burning with deep domes so I bought it on the recommendation of my local reptile store. I really like it and my lightbulb seems to be working great. The heat doesn't concentrate that much in one spot so I use the CHE with my heat lamp and now the temperature is perfect.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging

Performs well in heat lamps

I bought this on the recommendation of my lovebird's vet to keep him warm during the colder months. I attach this to the top of the cage and point it at her cage. This helps keep their cage, and even the entire (however small) room, warmer. I'm worried about leaving it on while I'm out of the room. I haven't had any problems with it so far and I hope it stays that way.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • The list goes on.

does the trick! The best in terrariums Heat lamps and mats

Ideal for extending the life of ceramic lamps and looks beautiful! It was a bit difficult to attach to surfaces as it tended to tilt downwards. I don't use a lot of heat so placing a screen light right above the tank works great for me and my reptilian friend. If you need (and need to crop) a very specific angle and/or a limited amount of cropping space, this may not be for you.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Zero

Not the strongest hardware but good value for money

I didn't have any problems with the clamping and rotating part of this lamp that some other reviewers had. . I mean, it's not the fanciest of setups, but it fits our needs well and I've had no problems - the clamp sits securely on the side of my tortoiseshell table and holds the CHE (ceramic heating element) securely. I pretty much installed it and then left it, but if you have to adjust its position frequently, maybe it could be a problem. I just made sure everything was tightened and…

Pros
  • Clamp lamp can handle incandescent bulbs up to 150w

Just what I needed

I've always used solid ceramic lighting that worked great until I started using an Exo Terra Solar Glo 160w bulb on one of my reptiles. This fully enclosed bulb overheated and quickly failed. I bought this solar lamp wire clip bulb to increase airflow and help it stay a little cooler. So far so good, the lamp lasts longer than before. It's worth it. Update: The device failed about 3 months after purchase. Lightbulbs stopped working. I called Zoo Med and told them about the problem. They took…

Pros
  • Comes with switch and ceramic heat bulb holder
Cons
  • boring packaging

functional but looks cheap compared to the exoterra wire lamp

I have both Zoo med and exoterra wire lamps (small) for ceramic heaters - both connected to thermostats for temperature control and both arrived new and undamaged. This time I took the larger one because it was a bit cheaper than the exoterra I bought for another terrarium a few months ago. Overall this appears to be a much lower quality item; while the exoterra has a label that says on and off, the enlarged one doesn't (which isn't very good as it's hard to tell if the SE is on without waiting

  • clamp-on terrarium heater lamp
