Samourai Wallet: a serious competitor to Darkwallet

Another anonymous Bitcoin wallet has appeared in the Bitcoin universe. It's called the Samourai wallet (or simply Samurai), and is mainly focused on security and privacy. The developers of the wallet, who stewed in cryptocurrency soup from the very beginning, call themselves samurai. Their idea was to create a wallet with many hitherto unprecedented chips, and make it like a mobile twin of Darkwallet. The wallet is currently only available for Android smartphone users. In its arsenal, it contains many different chips, thanks to which it compares favorably with other options. When the wallet is created, it generates a passphrase in accordance with the BIP 39 specification (a 12-word mnemonic phrase that is used to generate an encryption key). It uses military grade AES-256 encryption. The PIN and secret GUID are stored locally in a secure area of the device. When running, it queries the Bitcoin network for unspent outputs to the user's wallet addresses.

Pros
  • Intuitive and easy to use.
Cons
  • In general, no
