I've been using plus-sized iPhones since the 6s; I do a lot of work with email, remote desktop, instant messengers, presentations, social networks, and the like; I also enjoy taking plenty of pictures and watching films while traveling. In the last two years, I used the iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone XS Max, and with each upgrade came a fresh set of feelings; the improvements over earlier models were immediately apparent. The 12 Max's ergonomics are, should we say, less than ideal (size and grip). The cameras, of course, protrude, and any solution including a block of cameras seems like a design flaw. In the year 2022, it is very remarkable to see such large screen borders. But! Given the XS Max's awful modem quality, the XR's LTE and Wi-Fi 5 performance is a welcome relief. Whereas the XS Max's 90% battery life would have expired by 17:00, the 12 Max's would have dropped to 25% by 23:00 under my exact same usage conditions. Just dumping my thoughts in this photo; I had a weekend trip to Istanbul and shot in every available mode; see examples below. The night mode and shutter speed result were excellent, however as has been reported in other reviews, the camera suffers from a common issue: light dots. If you need to put a big thing next to the frame, the 0.5 chip reduction is a big help. This can result in skewed proportions if the picture is framed improperly, though. Separately, I'll elaborate on the benefits of Apple products to many local commentators. A situation abroad—I'll spare you the gory details—convinced me that the XS Max was the right choice. I had turned off the screen and the phone wouldn't do anything but receive calls on my Apple Watch. They spent two hours at the local Apple Store getting a new one for free and restoring it from iCloud before continuing on with their trip. It's a proven truth that the local collection of phones, headphones, watches, and Macbooks outperforms rival collections including identical components. In other words, you'll need to shell out a pretty penny to get your hands on this. So be it; c'est la vie.
