This KVM must be used with HDMI, it can not only be used as a USB switch! This was not documented anywhere in the advertising or the manual. If an active HDMI cable is not connected to one of the ports, the device will not recognize that port. I spent time with tech support and they didn't know either. We thought the unit was defective and sent another one back. If by some stupid accident I found it after the exchange. Now I have it set up, I really like it a lot. So much so that I decided to buy the first one (instead of returning it). I plan to use it on my game consoles. It is made of metal and is very durable. The toggle button feels decent. Having 4 ports on the front is great. No power cord is required and I can charge my phone using the USB ports. I have no loss of signal quality when switching and my USB devices switch very quickly (my old KVM had some delay before the device could pick it up when reconnecting, sometimes it took multiple attempts). I bought this to replace the KVM I use to switch between my work computer and my home computer. Since my monitor has two inputs, I didn't need HDMI, I wanted to use the 4 USB ports on the front. (mouse, keyboard, camera).
