I was so upset when I thought it stopped working a few days after receiving it that I ordered a return label. Wait, don't do this before reading this. The manual mentions that folding can affect heat. I know it sounds crazy but it's simple. Fold the blanket in half, fold in half, and fold in half VERTICALLY again, as if folding along the longer side. Then fold it again vertically like you are folding it into a small bundle. Put on a strong fire and wait a few minutes. If you open it and crawl under it, you will experience a very pleasant toasty sensation. When you lie down underneath, wrap it so that the ends of the blanket appear to overlap each other. This is my first blanket and to say I love this item is an understatement. Great for heat therapy (arthritis, joint pain, etc.) or just to calm you down. Now I don't know what happens after washing, but it's worth a try.
