I wanted the shoes to fit without extra insoles to keep them from sagging. Olukulai, Merrell and Salomon used to be my favorites. Salomon is still at the top of the list, but I could only find lace-up shoes. Bought, like them and wear even more. I had never heard of Topo Athletic before, but I loved the style, the reviews, and if they didn't match I'd quit my search. They fit right out of the box. In everything else, I'm a men's size 11. Merrell and Olukulai never felt safe. Even after adding volume with some custom insoles. I didn't have to change the shoes right away to fit them. But everyone's experience is unique. The sole is durable and does not appear flat and massive. They seem to be made to last, but I can't confirm that as it's too early. I'm glad I didn't give up because I have to walk around the house in shoes or my heels will rebel. My feet are flat and offer moderate support there. The fit was very accurate for my size 11. Perfect length with plenty of room in the toes and a comfortable but not flexible feel, yet easy to put on and take off. Personally, I think good shoes are very important and the price is high, but I also have other brands that were expensive but durable. I don't want to do this again in 6 months! In general I am very satisfied.
