First let me say that for the last 4 years I have used a 32 inch Samsung TV with an IPS panel as my primary display. Why? Because IPS is great, it reproduces 100% of the color spectrum, and IPS only has a few panels on the market today. I have lost hope in humanity. I have recommended the 1080p IPS versions of these Asus monitors to friends because they were nice, but I had no real reason to upgrade to one as my TV was/is 1080p. Bought this.as a gift from my wife.for Christmas this year.before.because she loves me.I cried with joy when the display lit up.DisplayPort definitely fits as an input. You can't get full 2560x1440 without it. Not sure why other reviewers gave this monitor a bad rating for using the HDMI input. This monitor comes with a DisplayPort cable. The picture on this monitor is so clear. I was afraid it would never look as good as my TV because my TV was calibrated for print/web design. The default settings were a little rough, but now they look identical to my image on my TV. Only clearer because of the pixels. The property is amazing. The games are brand new again. Seriously. Although I'm disappointed now because I built a brand new PC for The Witcher 3 and got 60fps on Ultra and now had to turn off some settings to get 60fps. but it's worth it. Seriously guys. Only. Seriously. It is so sweet. So beautiful. *starts to cry with joy*IPS is the only way out. I believe Asus will continue to make displays with IPS panels. My next step will be to 4K IPS. Can you tell me I love IPS (In-Plane Switching)? I wasn't sure how I would go about taking a semi-matte screen. My TV was shiny and had serious sex appeal. My 40-inch Samsung TV has a semi-matte screen, which is fine, but it's not IPS, so it's uncomfortable at certain angles. It's like a TN panel on a 20 inch monitor that you can buy anywhere. PLS (IPS own fake). However, this changes things. Since the viewing angle is wide and the colors are 100% at every viewing angle and there is NO glare (I tested this. I only got glare when I pointed the LED flashlight directly at the screen), others can also enjoy what's on is displayed on your screen. Nothing is washed out. You won't see the huge shine. You don't lose image quality. I tested 1440p video with my wife sitting at full angle and me sitting in front of the screen and she said it looks perfect. I have tested it myself and I can say that it is perfect. One last thing, the lack of flicker is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I'm not kidding when I say that I look at screens for work/play so often that I sometimes get sick. This effect does not occur with this monitor. My eyes are grateful. The "blue filter" is pretty much useless. You won't really use it unless you want an orange image. I understand why it's there, but it can't be used. The fact that Asus is trying when I don't see that option on many other displays says something. You don't really need "no trace" or anything else for that matter. It's just extra processing on the part of your monitor. The GPU takes care of that.
