Review on 🖥️ ASUS Designo MX27AQ 2560X1440 Frameless Monitor: Sleek & Stunning Display by Mark Watson

Overview for gamers. I've only had the monitor for a few days, but I'm very satisfied. No dead pixels or monitor issues upon arrival. As I was a bit worried about the 5ms response time, I compared the monitor alongside the BenQ rl2755hm monitor with a 1ms response time. I couldn't tell any noticeable difference, and knowing I'm much more into single player than any competitive multiplayer game, response time wasn't an issue compared to how much brighter and more attractive the ASUS panel is compared to the BenQ . BenQ 1080p and TN and ASUS 1440p and IPS have a clear ASUS resolution advantage, but I compared them side-by-side, both set to 1080p. No matter what settings I used during my two-hour tests, I couldn't get the BenQ anywhere near the stunning picture and rich colors that Asus emphasizes. Wallpapers, gaming, and even browsing sites like Amazon and IGN were much more fun on ASUS even without calibration. After proper calibration, it was clear to me that I would never go back to a TN panel due to the faster response times. ASUS design is also top notch. The amazing metal frame looks and feels good, and the borderless, bezel-free screen really helps save space and keeps the monitor compact compared to other 27-inch monitors I've had. I've included an image showing ASUS next to the large (but equally sized) BenQ I mentioned above - the difference is easy to spot - BenQ is on the left and ASUS is on the right. The monitor looks great in my room and any office no problem fitting in. There are two things to note that for some may affect the usability of the ASUS monitor: 1) No VESA mount, 2) No height adjustment. Other monitors considered: 1) MG279Q - IPS, 144Hz, 4ms, AMD Free Sync - no choice due to AMD Free Sync and $100 higher price. 144Hz might have been good, but I doubt 4ms compared to 5ms would make a difference. Also, the design of this model is not as perfect as that of the MX27AQ. 2) PG278Q - TN, 144Hz, 1ms, Nvidia G-Sync - didn't choose it due to the $200 higher price. I plan to use an Nvidia card in the future and would choose it if I was serious about competitive multiplayer. I am not considering switching to this monitor as I doubt its panel can reproduce the same colors as the MG27AQ IPS panel. Also important to me personally is that this monitor only has a DisplayPort connector and no HDMI connectors - I wanted to be able to connect my PS4 to my monitor and the MX27AQ fits those needs perfectly (and PS4 games look great despite 3 ) PB278Q - IPS, 60Hz, 5ms - This display has the same specs as the MG27AQ as far as I can tell, but is $60 cheaper. However, the design of the MG27AQ is worth the extra money in my opinion compared to the traditional boxy PB278Q frame design. I'd probably choose it if trying to save every dollar while aiming for a high-quality 1440p display, or if an all-black monitor is important to you. The MG27AQ is distinctly silver with touches of dark gray and definitely not black. Like I said, it couldn't be happier. I'll let you know about updates in a month or two. Games and movies look so good on an IPS screen that I don't think I'll ever feel like I'm missing 144Hz or 1ms. Even in a game like Diablo 3, I feel like I'm seeing new character and environment detail with this display compared to any other I've used. No buyer regrets. Buy this monitor if you care about how your games and movies look. If you like seeing details in dark areas and scenes, if you like the bright colors and contrast of movies and wallpapers, and if you want your monitor to look as good as your new games.
