I've been using a second K&N oil filter on my 2012 Wrangler since I've had it. When I first changed my oil I used Royal Purple 5w-30 motor oil. After driving 6,000 miles I changed the oil again and used this filter a second time. The oil was still fairly clean and you could still see through the streak of oil coming out of the engine. I currently use Valvoline 5w-30 fully synthetic. As for the filter, it costs about the same or less than the Mopar OEM filter and seems better too. K&N can't go wrong as filters are their specialty and the price is right.
